New Hours, Dave's Boat Yard is basically open 6 days a week from 9AM to 6 PM to provide marine engine repair and service and boat detailing.
It's always a good idea to call Dave at 828 413-7819 first if you are planning on droping off a boat or just want to see Dave as he also services boats at Lake James and may not be at the shop when you come by unless you make an appointment first.
Cherokee Marine and Cherokee Marine Store is closed Sundays.

Cherokee Marine Store is open Monday from 12 Noon to 6PM and Tuesday through Saturday from 7AM to 6PM during the summer.

We are now a certified North Carolina Wild Life Agent providing fishing and hunting license services as well as Vessel Registrations and Renewals.  We also maintain a complete stock of live bait including, Crickets, Minnows, Large Night Crawlers and Red Worms for our fishing customers.  Be sure to stop by our store for a visit and look around.  You will also see some beautiful crafts provided by Karen Reed that include brightly painted birds made out of pine cones, bird houses and wall plaques.  In addition we have set aside part of our store area for an "indoor yard sale" that is periodically stocked with used items.

Our Mission Statement:  It is our goal to serve the boating public according to Biblical Principles and by providing the very highest quality of workmanship and services.

About US: Cherokee Marine Services was founded by David Schultze in a rented automotive service garage located on S. Sterling Street in Morganton, NC in the late Fall of 2004.  By the Winter of 2006 it was necessary to move to a larger facility.  Cherokee Marine moved to its present location at the corner of Dysartsville Road and US 70 West.  It is located just 6/10 of a mile N. of Exit 94 off Interstate 40, on the main route to Lake James.  Dave's experience spans more than 32 years since he bought his first boat, a 17 ft Cutty Cabin Cruiser with a 75 hp Evinrude, with his own money earned over the summer painting a neighbor's house.  He was 15 years old.  After his graduation from Melbourne High School, in Melbourne, Florida, Dave's chosen profession took him from Key West, where he worked for a contractor maintaining DEA chase boats, to Homer, Alaska where Dave serviced and repaired the engines in large charter fishing boats for Alaska Marine.  Dave moved to Morganton, in 2000 and was employed by a local marina until he struck out on his own and founded Cherokee Marine Services.
